Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Research is published to serve its readers as a forum for the presentation and discussion of issues pertinent to the advancement of the specialty of dentistry, oral health and the evidence-based knowledge of craniofacial growth and development.

The dentistry journal is published bi-annual. The review of submitted papers will be coordinated by the editor and members of the editorial board. Dentistry journal editorial board provides fair and efficient peer-review service. It is policy to review manuscripts within 3 to 4 weeks of receipt and to publish within 2 months of acceptance. The journal aims for very fast publication.

Dentistry journal peer review methods are employed to maintain standards of quality improve performance and provide credibility of articles published. Similarly, dentistry journal welcomes papers in anatomy, dental and oral anesthesia, syndromology, surgery, dental emergencies, endodontics, maxillofacial surgery, pathology, radiology, cell biology, molecular biology, embryology, developmental biology, genetics, clinical outcomes research, epidemiology, biomaterials and their applications, speech and hearing, and other biomedical disciplines related to clinical dentistry, oral health and normal and abnormal craniofacial growth and development.

*2021 Official Impact Factor is the ratio of the number of citations achieved in the year 2021 based on Google Search and Google Scholar Citations to the total number of articles published in the last two years i.e. in 2019 and 2020. Impact factor measures the quality of the Journal. If ‘X’ is the total number of articles published in 2019 and 2020 and ‘Y’ is the number of times these articles were cited in indexed journals during 2021 then, impact factor = Y/X.

Founding-Editor-in-Chief

Shigeru Watanabe is a Professor of Department of Oral Health, Meikai University School of Health Sciences, Meikai University, Japan. After graduating from Asahi University School of Dentistry, he served as a pediatric dental associate professor at the University of Health Sciences University of Hokkaido, and then he served as a visiting professor at the University of Manitoba in Canada (Oral Biology, Professor C. Dawes) for two years and then he became a professor at the Meikai University School of Dentistry (1995), after retirement from university (2015), he took office as a Professor at the Meikai University School of Health Sciences (2016). His research theme is research on pediatric health, research on dental treatment of impaired and afflicted children, and research on saliva and dental caries.

He activities at each academic society: Auditor of the Japanese Society of Child Health, Director of the Japanese Society of Child Science, Director of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Dentistry (Vice President 06 - 8), Director of the Japanese Society of Oral Therapeutics and Pharmacology, Director of Japanese Society of Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Director of Japanese Society for Disability and Oral Health, Chairman of Japanese Dental Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect.

He served as a national examination committee member of the Japanese Dental Physician National Exam and a judge member of the Science Research Fund of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, spring, Science and Technology for a long time.

He wrote more than 150 papers, reviews, and reports on special lectures and symposia at many academic conferences. He also writes many pediatric dental-related textbooks and also writes a book of Japanese translation of Saliva and Oral Health (M. Edgar, C. Dawes and D. O' Mullane(ed.)), Dental Caries (O. Fejerskov and E. Kidd (ed.)).

Shigeru Watanabe was awarded the Prize of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Dentistry.

Prof. Shigeru received Ig Nobel Prize (Chemistry Prize) for the year 2019 and attended the award ceremony at Harvard University.

Hao Yu

Dr. Hao Yu is the Director of Dental Science Department at the School and Hospital of Stomatology, Fujian Medical University, an Associate Professor at Fujian Medical University, a Principal Investigator at Fujian Biological Material Engineering and Technology Center of Stomatology, and a Guest Professor at Nagasaki University. Dr. Yu received his D.D.S. degree from Fujian Medical University (China), Ph.D degree from Wuhan University (China), and Dr.med.dent degree from University of Zurich (Switzerland).His major research interests include dental biomaterials, tooth bleaching, dental erosion and adhesive dentistry.

Dr. Yu has published 61 peer-reviewed articles and is Guest Editor/Editorial Board Member for 6 journals. He is currently a Committee Member of Chinese Prosthodontics Society, Committee Member of Chinese Dental Material Society, Secretary General and Board Member of Fujian Prosthodontics Society, and Senior Member of European Organisation of Caries Research. Dr. Yu was elected as a Fellow of International College of Dentists in 2017, the Outstanding Award from Fok Yin Tong Education Foundation in 2016 and received Fellowship from European Organisation of Caries Research in 2010.

Vagner Rodrigues

Vagner Rodrigues Santos is dentist and biologist, has completed his Ph.D. at the Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management in University of California at Berkeley in 2012. Doctor in Oral Pathology (1996), master’s in microbiology (1992) professor from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), he has more than 30 papers on medicinal plants and propolis. Working mainly in the following subjects: propolis and medicinal plants and its application in oral microbiology, with emphasis on lesions of the buccal mucosa of infectious and inflammatory origin, development of products and medicines for use in the mouth.

He was the director and vice-director of the School of Dentistry (FO) of UFMG. Currently coordinates the Laboratory of Pathology Buco maxillofacial and Extension Project "Support Call Dental Patient Irradiated in head and neck region" in FOUFMG and guides doctoral, masters and scientific initiation students. He is also the member of the UFMG Ethics Committee. Member of the American Chemical Society, Brazilian Society of Dental Research, Italo-Latin American Society for Research in Medicinal Plants and Natural Products and is a reviewer of national and international journals. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Central Animal Farm of UFMG (Biotério Central/UFMG). He is currently sub-coordinator of the Center for the Study of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of the Museum of Natural History and Botanic Garden of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (CEPLAMT / MHNJB / UFMG).

Publication Charges

Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Research is an Open Access journal and we do not charge the end user when accessing a manuscript or any article. This allows the scientific community to view, download, distribution of an article in any medium, provided that the original work is properly cited, under the term of "Creative Commons Attribution License". In line with other open access journals we provide a flat fee submission structure on the acceptance of a peer-reviewed article which covers in part the entirety of the publication pathway (the article processing charge). The process includes our maintenance, submission and peer review systems and international editing, publication and submission to global indexing and tracking organisations and archiving to allow instant access to the whole article and associated supplementary documents. We also have to ensure enough investment to secure a sustainable model which ethically, legally and financially stable.

The publication charges for Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Research are USD 2950.

Why are your charges set at these levels?

All articles published in OA Text are open access. Open Access publishing implies that all readers, anywhere in the world, are allowed unrestricted to full text of articles, immediately on publication in OA Text Journals. The Article Publication Charges pay for the editorial and production costs of the journal, for hosting the website, publishing articles online, preparing HTML , PDF and XML versions of the articles and submitting the articles in electronic citation database like CrossRef.

Our financial goals are to:

Recover capitalization costs;
Produce sufficient revenue to allow for a sustainable and scalable publishing program, under continuous development;
Bend the publication-charge cost downward over time.

Who will pay the APC?

Corresponding author or Co-authors has to make the payment on acceptance of the article.

When should I pay?

Corresponding author or the paying institutions should arrange for the payment once they are notified regarding acceptance of the article. APC is exempted for cases in which a wavier agreement has been made in-prior to submission.

*We request an immediate attention towards the payment as the articles will not be published unless the charges have been paid.

How do I pay?

Authors or institutions can make payments by two modes as per their convenience.

Can I be eligible for wavier on APC?

The waiver request will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and will be provided accordingly.

Do I have to pay if my manuscript is rejected?

No, Article processing charges will not be applicable for articles rejected by the Editorial office.

Withdrawal Charges

Are reprints of my article included in the article processing charges (APCs)?

No, Article processing charges (APCs) do not include the charges for the reprints. Reprints facility is optional and should be order separately.
